Feeding Evaluation

Who's involved?

  • Occupational Therapist / Certified Lactation Counselor / Speech Language Pathologist

What will they assess?

  • Review of records and medical history with parent

  • Skilled observation of child.  Can include child feeding if appropriate and cooperative but not imperative; please bring any bottles, cups, preferred foods, formula, breast milk, as the child would be utilizing at home

  • Please note:  we are a highly trained and specialized, responsive based feeding clinic; we honor children's preferences and communication as it relates to all things, including feeding.  We will not push them to do anything they are not ready to do or willing to do, nor will we guarantee that we will get into their faces and/or mouths for evaluative purposes if we do not feel it is necessary.     https://www.marylandmsf.com/copy-of-our-practices

 

Our program supports families and their children holistically and collaboratively.  After your initial consult you can expect:

  • Recommendations for consults for external providers may include: GI, Allergy, ENT, Dentist

  • Recommendations to our in house Physical Therapist

  • Signed release for your evaluating therapists to collaborate with other professionals on the case

 

Appointments are offered in 2 parts. The first appointment will be carried out virtually and is intended for a parent interview, to go over background history, and come up with next steps. An in person appointment may be offered after to look at additional contributing factors .
